from this place home after the day's work. The same applies to mine-

work, with the proviso that in case of work underground, the time for

the roll-call and division of work, provided this is done on the

surface, and the time for covering the distance to and from the pit

entrance from and to the labourer's home, to a maximum of 11⁄2 hours,

shall not be deducted fran the working hours, above mentioned, sub:b.

3. The labourer is obliged in case of catastrophes by the Act of God,

or in case of threatening danger, by order of the Superintendent or his

assistants, to assist in the relief, also outside the working hour

stipulated in the contract, and also on days on which otherwise no work

is done, provided he finds himself on the premises, for which no

payment will be due.

4. The labourer cannot be compelled to work continuously more than 6

hours; time for rest to be at least one hour. However, in case of

need, by permission of the Government-Chief of the District, deviation

from this regulation is possible.

5. When working on day-task, the labourer shall be obliged to complete

a reasonable day-task in the proper manner. If this has been done to

the satisfaction of the foreman, under whose supervision he has been

working, then the labourer may go home, whereas to the contrary, when the foreman is of opinion that the work done is not in conformity with the requirements, either in quantity or quality, the labourer shall have to stay on the premises until an assistant of the mine-superintend -ent in charge of the place where the labourer is employed, shall have decided on the matter, with due observance of what has been stipulated

in paragraph 1 of this article.

6. When working on piece-work, the labourer shall be obliged to work on every working day for so many hours and in the manner as will be indicated by the Superintendent and to complete at least so much work as will entitle him to the same amount as the daily wages agreed upon, subject to what has been stipulated sub:a, paragraph 1 of this article III. For overtime, being for work executed outside the working hours stipulated per diem, which can only be done at the request of the

Superintendent
